Plot
"Cosplayers across Tokyo have been warned not to walk alone after last night's incident," the drawling, sleepy voice droned loudly into the ears of a tall, skinny young man sprawled across a messy bed. "A young girl dressed up as popular manga and anime character Sailor Moon was found dead this morning in the middle of a busy intersection in the Juuban district of Tokyo, Japan."
Upon hearing the name of his favorite childhood superhero, the boy jumped awake, as if he had been up the whole time. His messy, rosy brown hair stuck up in cow-licks that defied gravity, making him look like he'd stuck his finger in an electric socket, yet his indigo eyes stared intently at the radio, waiting curiously for more of the news story. In spite of his sudden interest, the anchorman had moved on to the trial of some unimportant celebrity.
Of course, in the moment that the radio was no longer important, the boy suddenly realized that he was now twenty minutes late for his computer class. In a rush of panic, the sleepy college student hopped hysterically from his bed, quickly changing into some clothes, grabbing his books, and dashing out the door for class.
The radio was left on in this frenzy, but somewhere in the streets outside his window, something much more worrisome had happened...
We know Sailor Moon as the story of magical girls dressed in sailor outfits fighting evil beings. However, in another realm that parallels our own "Universe", Sailor Moon is not an imaginary story, but a reality. With a few exceptions, Naoko Takeuchi's story actually happened in that parallel realm, called the Negaverse.
One night, Naoko Takeuchi had a dream sent to her by the Sailor Moon of the Negaverse. A beautiful princess with her hair in blonde odangos appeared before her, begging her to tell five individuals in Takeuchi's world of their place as Crisis Senshi. Only then would the guardians of the Crisis Senshi be awakened and summoned to bestow the Crisis Senshi with powers.
However, the princess also explained who she was and her stories as a senshi to Takeuchi, because she wanted Takeuchi to fully comprehend what was to happen. She told Naoko: "You are a prophet. You must fulfill your destiny and deliver this message to the five Crisis Senshi; in 15 years, the enemy will appear. You must be ready!"
Unfortunately, Takeuchi did not believe this dream to be anything more than that; a dream. Instead of fulfilling her part in the prophecy, Takeuchi created a manga based on the stories that this princess told her, and became rich and famous.
Now, 15 years later (in our time -- by Negaverse time, only one year and three months have passed), a terrible threat to the universe has appeared. Those who were allied with former enemies of the princess now have a thirst for vengeance against the very thing that ruined them; not the princess herself, but Chaos. Though some desire revenge against the wretched Sailor Senshi that defeated them, they all realize that the true being that caused their downfall was Chaos. These new enemies have discovered a means with which to destroy Chaos, but it involves human lives.
Upon understanding this, the senshi of the Negaverse knew that they had to take action. They could no longer rely on Naoko Takeuchi to fulfill her destiny, so they instead took it upon themselves to warn the Crisis Senshi. The princess and her fellow senshi traveled to the Universe to try and warn the Crisis Senshi of the oncoming threat, but something unexpected occurred...
The Negaverse Senshi never made it to the Universe together.
Interdimensional travel has some unpredictable properties. One of these is the gravity pull in the space between dimensions. Without fully knowing how random and powerful this pull could be, the Negaverse Senshi were separated, scattered to various points in Japan, their main destination. In this new world, they soon discovered that the technology of their communicators did not work, and they were left to fend for themselves.
And unfortunately, Sailor Moon was left alone, and soon was attacked and killed by one of the new enemies.
Meanwhile, the guardians of the Crisis Senshi overlooked the Earth with concern. Upon witnessing Sailor Moon's tragic death, they realized that they could no longer wait for the prophecy of Takeuchi to be fulfilled. Taking action themselves, the guardians of the Crisis Senshi left their pocket realm and entered the Universe, flocking to the Crisis Senshi.
Will the Crisis Senshi be awakened in time to defeat this new enemy? Is an opponent with the power to defeat Chaos itself even destructible? Will the Negaverse Senshi ever be reunited? Is this really the last of Sailor Moon?
Forget Sailor Moon...is this the end of existence? Only time will tell ...
