Chaos Crisis

Rules

Ah, the fun part...not. Believe it or not, we DON'T enjoy making rules, but they have to exist to create some boundaries. So here's the painful part...

1. Age: While this RPG has no real age requirement, it is rated PG13. This means that there will be some mild violence, sexual content, and swearing but nothing extreme. There is to be no lemon, albeit gay straight or bisexual or whatever, and the violence shouldn't be very graphic, i.e. you can have characters bleed or what have you, but please, no flying limbs! Swearing is fine in moderation, as long as it fits the character and you're not cussing every other word, because that's just obnoxious. You are also perfectly allowed homosexual/bisexual characters - HELLO PEOPLE IT'S THE 21ST CENTURY!

2. God Mode: There is to be none. That means no invincible characters, no Mary-Sues, no controlling or writing as other peoples' characters without permission, etc. Don't know what a Mary-Sue is? Read this.

3. Interaction: Treat each other with respect, please. There are to be no racial or sexist slurs made toward players or characters. Let's all act like adults, okay? If you have a problem with one of the other players, please let me know – I'd much rather work something out than see a player leave because of a petty fight.

4. Applying: Before applying, READ EVERYTHING ON THE SITE, INCLUDING THE FORUM AND CHARACTER PROFILES. I mean it. If you ask someone a question that's already been answered on the site, they have a right to be upset. You should do this whenever applying for an RPG, because most of your questions can be answered on the site. Also, please put some effort into your character. Take at least one month from creation to completion; I have no way of administering this, but I just recommend it highly. Well thought out characters tend to get accepted a lot more easily than those that were created in the span of a day. Put your all into it, post the application on the forums, and please don't be upset if you don't get in the first time. Personally, I didn't get into my first Sailor Moon RPG until my fifth try or so! We've all been there, so understand that we're not rejecting you because we're vindictive or mean-spirited, but because we want your character to be as clean and detailed as possible. The reviewers genuinely want you to succeed; it's not like we're waiting for apps so we can spit them back and laugh at you. Also, here's the general result levels, from highest to lowest:

ACCEPT – Yay! Your app got accepted! Your character was extremely well-thought out, detailed, made sense, and was all-around awesome. Now go reward yourself and welcome to the RPG! ^_^

ACCEPT, BUT – Yay! Your app will be accepted as soon as you finish some minor revisions we asked of you. Your character is almost perfect, but one or two tiny errors are keeping you from actually RPing with us. Still, the character slot will not be given away to someone else. You'll have up to two months to respond to us with your revisions (unless you have a legitimate excuse that you tell us about in advance); after that, there will be no promises that we won't give your slot away to someone else if they apply and get accepted. Really, the revisions we ask of you will probably be so minuscule that they can be corrected in the span of a week, so two months is pretty generous. This is only fair; we shouldn't be kept waiting for you, and neither should others that want the character and who will be more responsive.

REVISE OR DIE – We love your character! We just don't love him/her enough to accept you just yet. This means that while most of the app was good, one or two errors are a bit too big to accept you as is. But if you get this verdict, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY REVISE! This means that, while we can't accept your character, we really want to and we would love for you to fix him/her up!

REJECT FOR REVISIONS – Your character is on the way there, but not quite great yet. We see potential in the character, but there are several big problems that need to be worked out to improve the character before you can be accepted. If you get this verdict, it usually means that you should spend more time thinking about your character and more time asking us questions about the RPG. Maybe you didn't read enough of the website. Either way, keep at it!

REJECT – Your character has many glaring errors. We simply do not see potential in this character. Remember, we are rejecting the CHARACTER, and the criticism we give you isn't personal. If you got this verdict, it probably means you don't understand the game enough yet; try reading the site some more, or asking us questions (after you've read the site).

AUTO-REJECT – Wow. You did something really, REALLY wrong, like leave out a section in the app or did not follow some rule in the application. READ THE SITE A LOT MORE.

5. Character Limit: Once you've been accepted into the RPG, you'll have to wait until your character has been in at least one Main or Side Story that has been posted on the website to apply as another character to ensure that you are able to handle one character. On the bright side, when you apply for another you no longer have to include a Writing Sample - we'll know by then how you write! After that, to apply for a third character, you have to wait until your first character is in at least 2 finished stories (to ensure that you have been keeping up with him/her/it) and that your second character is in at least 1 story (remember, all these story requirements don't mean that the stories have to be Main, or even published to the site, as long as they're finished). There is no limit to how many characters you play (but please keep your own time limitations in mind), but we do ask that at least one of your characters be a hero and at least one be a villain, and that no two of your characters are in the same faction. This is because we have so few character slots to begin with, and we want to ensure that new players will have the opportunity to apply for slots in either the hero or villain sides.

6. Posting: We write in 3rd person, past tense in this game - your writing samples should be in that style, applicants! Once you're in, unless you have a valid prior excuse, you must post within two weeks of being tagged. Valid excuses include moving, vacations, etc. Feel free to talk to me about it if you're unable to post - I'm not loathe to allowing leway on a case-by-case basis.

7. HAVE FUN. No, really – it's a GAME. It's supposed to be enjoyable. Don't take it too seriously! Just enjoy yourself and RELAX.
